The history of medical(MBBS) education in Uttar Pradesh is very old. The state has many historic medical universities and colleges, some of which have a history dating back over 100 years. List of all Government and Private Medical Colleges available in this section.
At present, the reasonability of Uttar Pradesh medical education taken care by Directorate General of Medical Education and Training (DGME). Its DGME reasonability to regulate and accredited all government and private medical colleges and universities in the state.
Admission to medical education in Uttar Pradesh is through the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). NEET is a national level entrance examination conducted for admission to all medical colleges in India.
The curriculum for medical education in Uttar Pradesh is 5.5 years, which includes 4.5 years of degree and 1 year of internship. The degree is called “MBBS” (Bachelor of Medicine or Bachelor of Surgery).
There are many options available for medical education in Uttar Pradesh. The state has both government and private medical colleges and universities. Admission into government medical colleges is generally more competitive than private medical colleges, so cut-off of Government Medical Colleges are always at higher end .
